Hallelujah

Seems pretty ironic that I open up a community to do with dreams and such, only to find that I don't really dream for the next few days.. It's terrible! So out of boredom, I decided I'd make a post about one of my older dreams which I labelled Hallelujah:

I walk slowly down this spooky looking street. There are dead trees on either side o fthe  street and the wind is blowing through the leaves. The moon causes there to be shadows on the side walks. I was singing softly to me self the song "hallelujah" trying to kep myself calm and collected, avoiding all the other thoughts in my head. I could hear someone else singing the song with me, a guy's voice but I couldn't see them. I could feel him behind me, but nothing.. I felt something brush past my face and I turned around to see an old lamp post. A dark figure stood beneath it and I was walking up to see him, he holds out his hand. I reach my arm forward, still too far away to even touch him but just as I'm about to, I look up, and I still can't see his face. My hand just brushes his hand before I fall into darkness and wake up.

To be honest, the song itself, sung at night, quietly under your breath, is pretty spooky especially these verses which I remember most clearly. I guess the way to think of it, is a single voice, echoing in the darkness, and bouncing off the old houses in the dead of the night...:

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
